Bombon, Marakau Village, Ranau

Opened to the public in 2014, here, the villagers practice a river fish conservation system called “Bombon” also known as “Tagal” where it is managed and developed by the community itself.
What’s unique about the “Tagal” system here is the bright coloured koi fish that you could see in the clear water. Great photo opportunities!
Only slippers are allowed in the river, which are provided together with a guide who will be assisting you in feeding the fish.
Other activities:
Hiking – Dompurungan Hill where you can experience the refreshing breeze of Ranau and a panaromic view of the villages around (all 43 of them!) and of course the majestic view of Mount Kinabalu. And if you’re lucky, you might even get to see the rare blooming rafflesia!
