The Tuaty Gallery

A magnificent Tuaty Gallery perched at a strategic setting at Bauto Forest Reserve, built in honour of an original Death March track cutter, the late Tuaty Akau. The Death March was a series of forced marches in Borneo (Now Sabah) from Sandakan to Ranau. Held during the Pacific campaign of World War II, a total of 2,345 allied prisoners of war that was held captive by the Empire of Japan died in the Sandakan POW Camp.

Getting There

It’s about 206km from Kota Kinabalu or about 4 hours 44 minute’ drive. You can take an Express Bus from the long distance bus terminal at Inanam. The schedule departure time for the bus will be from 7.30am until 8.00pm with an estimated cost from RM35.00. Upon reaching Telupid town, find a taxi to get to The Tuaty Gallery and for self-drive, head to southeast toward Ranau-Sandakan Road/Tun Hussien Onn Road approximately 11.5km from Telupid town and turn right to Microwave Road. The Tuaty Gallery located 200 metres from the junction.
