Mount Silam

Mt Silam is an ultramafic coastal mountain facing Darvel Bay, rising from sea level to 884m a.s.l- the highest point in Lahad Datu. With an elevation range between 200-884 m altitudes, forest in Mt. Silam is classified into 4 general forest formations: Lowland Ultramafic Forest / Upland Ultramafic Forest/ Lower, Montane Ultramafic forest and Upper montane forest (mossy forest).

Getting There

Approximately 55 minutes from Kota Kinabalu to Lahad Datu by flight and another 20 minutes drive on well maintained gravel road to reach Kawag Danum Rainforest Lodge.
