Riverside ‘Lung Cleansing’ Trail Trekking Trail

This is the first dedicated trail about 45km long starting from Kiulu, passing Tamparuli and ending at the hilly Pekan Nabalu. The 'lung cleansing' trekking trail goes through a total of 14 villages.

Trekkers are recommended to spend three to four days on this trek. Guides will be assigned to assist and trekkers can spend their nights in community-managed base camps or village homestays.

Trekkers can explore the Borneo lowland forest and learn basic jungle survival skills from the natives, identify wild indigenous medicinal plants as well as edible plants, see unique species of flora and fauna in the Kiulu forest, and also experience the local culture and hospitality of the local people.

Getting There

It’s about 32.4km from Kota Kinabalu or about 55 minutes’ drive. You can opt to take an Express Bus (bas ekspres) from the Terminal Bus Station at Jalan Padang, Bandaran Berjaya. The departure time will be from 7.00am until 5.00pm with an estimated cost of RM4.00. Upon reaching Tuaran town or the taxi stand, find a taxi and get to Lubok Village which is about 7.7km or 15 minutes’ drive away from Tuaran town.
